Glass Boil Alert Pot Watcher

WARNING - product may be dangerous
Used the pot watcher 2 or 3 times (would have used it more often, but I kept forgetting to put it in the pot of water) and was initially pleased with how nicely it worked to let me know the water had boiled. On the last time I used it, I remembered something small, hard and crunchy in the pasta I had cooked in the pot I used the pot watcher in. It crunched against my teeth, but didn't know what it was until I was washing the dishes and noticed a chip in the center area of the glass pot watcher. It appears there are several air bubbles in the glass, and I'm assuming that one of these was near the surface and burst with the heat under the pot of water. Needless to say I have not used it since. I'd rather have water boiling over than glass chips damaging my teeth. I'm wondering if the ceramic ones would be better, but I'm planning on just using a timer instead.

If you decide to buy this anyway, at the least examine it well when you remove it from the boiling water before...

Good
This pot watcher is very good. I used to boil the milk, and definatly the milk does not spread. But I prefer the stainless steel pot watcher.

It Broke
It's a great little gadget and works fine, easy to clean BUT after only a few months of use, it got a crack and then split into two pieces. I didn't drop it or do anything I'm aware of to cause it to crack like that.

What a disappointment!!
