Assam Tea Press with Glass Handle and Stainless Steel Lid, 8 Cup, 34-Ounce

Cheap polycarb plunger
I don't know why other people complain about how fragile the Assam is... First, where else are you going to get a teapot with the convenience of the Assam's strainer/plunger? Second, its a piece of glass -- of course its fragile. Yeah I've broken a few of them, but when you knock it off the counter, what do you expect to happen?

I've been using the Assam teapot for years. In my opinion, it WAS the best teapot available. The reason I am giving this item 2 stars is because of the cheap polycarb strainer its now comes with instead of the stainless steel version. My last Assam had a rubber piece around the rim of the stainless steel strainer which gave a nice snug fit and kept it from falling out. The polycarb has cheap little tabs to hold it in but otherwise it is a very loose fit.

Also, the holes in this strainer are way too few and too small. Put in some sencha leaves and you have to use the plunger to literally force the water out of the strainer. Fill, plunge,...

Same ol' "dog" that Bodum offers elsewhere on Amazon??
This appears to be just a new page for a Bodum product that's been carried by Amazon for a while; only this way they get to drop all the negative reviews that have accumulated over the years, by the 53 reviewers that MOSTLY tag this as defective in design or manufacture or both.
Please! read the reviews of this same pot here:

I bought mine from that other listing above, failing to heed the many negative reviews and warnings that this pot would break or crack despite kid-glove handling and handwashing.
I was determined to beat the odds and have mine last a while: a month is how long mine made it. This was despite handling & washing & using it like it was a rare and fragile antique or something.

I notice they are still saying that it's dishwasher safe, but hardly anyone dares to do that; really, read the reviews of the many customers whose...

I love this teapot!
Wow! I can't believe the negative review. I love this pot and am ordering one for each of my sisters. I would never put my teapot in the dishwasher. I love the fact that I can make a big pot of tea and then capture the leaves so it doesn't get too strong. I have a little warmer that it sits on so I enjoy tea for an hour or more. Treat it with respect and you'll do just fine.
