The magnet is very weak and I struggled with retrieving my jar lids from the pot of scalding water. If you excel at games that test hand-steadiness, you will be able to use this product. In my case, I found it frustrating as the surface tension of the water would often pull the lid from the magnet so I would start over again...and again....and again.

A review for a little magnet...really? But here I am. This little canning lid magnet is useful to have on hand when doing your home canning. It is intended to allow the retrieval of a canning lid from the hot water you used to sterilize your lids and rings and to prevent burns and scalds during such retrieval. What can I say? I mean...it's a magnet. It works and I am pleased to have this handy little item. It is light-weight and easily stored in a drawer or with your canning supplies.
